SynaptixBio – Biotech
Brief
Biotech start-up SynaptixBio approached us to raise awareness – within the general public and the medical community – of its work to develop the world’s first treatment for TUBB4a leukodystrophy – a rare, incurable and deadly genetic disease, which mainly affects babies and young children.
Strategy
We developed a range of topical news stories, powerful human interest case studies and compelling business feature pitches to highlight the devastating condition, position the company as an industry leader, SynaptixBio’s work and what life is like for patients.
We worked closely with the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) in the US, which has partnered with our client on the project, to develop content that highlighted its position as one of the world’s leading centres on TUBB4a.
We also staged media training sessions for both founders to help them prepare for interviews.
To boost SynaptixBio’s social media presence, we managed the company’s and CEO’s LinkedIn accounts to increase followers in target sectors, and amplify and celebrate its developments and successes.
Outcome
Since the campaign began 13 months ago, we have secured 165 articles worldwide to date, with an estimated global audience of 2.2 billion, 460 brand mentions and 35 backlinks across some of the world’s biggest news platforms.
Major outlets include Sky News, ITV News, BBC News, BBC World Service, Yahoo! Finance, MSN, BioWorld, BioSpace, The Medicine Maker, Daily Express, Open Access Government and countless regional titles, such as the Hertfordshire Mercury.
We also increased the number of followers on SynaptixBio’s LinkedIn account from 35 to 1,110 – a 3000% rise. The CEO’s LinkedIn contacts grew from 342 to 5,070 – a 1400% hike.
Due to the increased public awareness of the disease, a number of children’s hospitals have contacted SynaptixBio to learn more about this relatively unknown condition.
Dr Dan Williams, CEO and co-founder of SynaptixBio:
“From the very start of the campaign, Sway PR has exceeded all expectations. The results the team has generated has been absolutely fantastic, while the agency’s tireless and tenacious work to help us achieve our goals has been second to none.
“Whether it has been preparing us for high-profile interviews for Sky or the BBC – or developing creative and compelling ideas to tell our story, Sway has been a supportive and valued member of our wider team.
“Sway’s thorough understanding of the media landscape and personable approach immediately helped me
“We cannot thank the agency enough for helping raise awareness of TUBB4a leukodystrophy and the work being done to tackle it.”
